I'm supposed to be studying biochemistry, but instead I can't concentrate due to all the cheering and clapping wafting its way down from the Greek Theater through my open window and into my ears. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers are playing. Actually, right now it's probablly the opening act -- the Black Crowes. Which makes me wonder if Kate Hudson is up there cheering -- which makes me think about the bus scene in Almost Famous, singing Tiny Dancer. And none of this is helping me study...

Holy shit, I can now make out a Black Crowes song -- geez, it's almost like being at the show, but not really. Alright, back to studying -- final on Monday!

I've been totally sick for three days and am now coming out of the fog -- although I still sound sick, I'm not so bad. Unfortunately, being sick was a good excuse for being unproductive (i.e. spending all day on eBay bidding on vintage toddler t-shirts, hawkwind lps, and the blue van posters). Tomorrow night I get to go out to dinner and eat at a real restaraunt (Oliveto's in Oakland) with Sara F. That's pretty darn exciting. Then starts the countdown to the Big Island!!! I've already started packing -- mostly because I have to pack for me, the kids, and also gently encourage SK's packing.

Anyhow, this crick in my neck has a meeting with my Discovery Store Shiatsu massage chair.

This morning when I checked my email, I saw one from the parent of one of Uma's preschool classmates. She wanted to know if I wanted to go see the White Stripes at the Greek Theater with her, as her husband flaked and none of her friends liked that sort of music (I guess because she's like 45-50 years old). Anyhow, I said yes, but it depended on how much the tickets were, as I tend to be on the broke side these days. And she said I could go for free -- woohoo. Then, this morning on my walk down the Berkeley pier -- I glanced down and found a 312 MB memory card -- the exact one I had been pining for for my digital camera. Woohoo, upgrade from my measley 16MB!

I also got to mow the lawn today -- not that that was luck, I asked to -- as I was bored and wanted to be outside. Hee.

Went down to the Berkeley Pier this morning with Diego -- it was a nice walk, and being before 9am, it was empty and peaceful. We finally bought our tickets to St. Louis for Thanksgiving. I'm kind of excited, as we haven't been to St. Louis together since before we got married. And, oh the wonderful treasures found in midwest thrift stores! I finally finished my assignment on stinking DNA structure and replication -- although my heart was definitley not into it, at least it's done.

Apparently this is the year to get married -- as I just plunked down $300+ on wedding presents for friends and family that are getting hitched. I think I should've waited to get married until now -- because when we got married all of our friends were still in college, dirt poor, and that left us with a sad looking registry. But now everyone has jobs and can afford to buy stuff off gift registries. Oh well.

I'm not feeling very articulate at the moment, hence the lame-ass entry -- but wanted to write *something* before it got to be months between entries.

So, we didn't go to the movies -- instead I convinced SK to watch "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" -- particularly for the scene about the twin-filled lump in the lady's neck. The roofers woke us up at a godforsaken 7:30am -- on a Saturday!!!! For a second, in my slumber, I thought it was an earthquake -- and being that I get excited about apocalyptic possibilities (think "Red Dawn" elementary-school daydreams), it almost made the ungodly and unglamourus hour forgivable. But alas, just the roofers.

I think our plan is to leave the house altogether today -- as the roofing is quite thunderous and impossible to have normal conversations through. It's a nice day today and without Uma, the possibilties for outtings are endless. We could go up to Telegraph and visit Sarah, but that would mean going too close to Amoeba -- and seeing as we have no money for records, it would be too sad and tempting to break out the plastic.

Speaking of music, I've been on a weird 80s hair rock and metal phase. I think it's just me being nostalgic, listening to G-n-R or even Pearl Jam. Hilarious. I've also recently got into Gong, silly stoner rock. The world is my freaking oyster now that my car can play MP3s. I've been digging through my brain trying to remember every band that Utrillo mentioned to me when I worked at Lookout!. Good stuff. I wish I had friends to trade mix-tapes with. Or I guess that would be mix-CDs these days.

Alright -- time to get a move on!

Only three more weeks until our Hawaiin family vacation -- I can't wait. The roofers are scraping the roof, which caused a picture frame to fall on sleeping me and Diego on the bed. Berkeley is obviously too hazardous right now. We'll be vacationing on the big island, which is where Twy grew up -- so she's pointing us towards all the secret local locales. I really need to get another memory card for the camera before then...

My mom took Uma away for the weekend -- woohoo! I love that girl, but in general, four year olds are terrors. I wouldn't mind going back to those obviously mis-named terrible twos! Maybe we can even go to the movies tonight -- although SK is working late. I really wanted to see Rize, but it doesn't appear to be playing anywhere -- instead I'm seeing listings for "The Polar Express" (hello, isn't that a Christmas movie?) -- and Jessie McNartney Live (have you all seen those ads for watching live concerts in the theater, just seems sad to me...). Perhaps we could go see "The Island" -- although the McGregor-Johannsen's lips combo sort of freaks me out. Maybe "Hustle and Flow" or "Wedding Crashers". Suggestions anyone?

Diego is crying on the bed (don't be alarmed, it's only been for like five minutes) -- and *finally* our roof is getting repaired after having leaked for almost two years (this November). The sad thing is is that one of the roofer guys is this young early-20 something hottie -- I say hottie in the loosest of terms, but something akin to the stereotypical pool boy/gardener/plumber tempting the older housewife. Not that I consider myself older or a housewife -- although it's likely both are true. However, being that our house is almost all windows or sliding-glass doors -- I am reconsidering where I breastfeed -- as I do not want any of the roofers to catch a glimpse of boob. I guess Diego's eating in the bathroom today! It's not that I'm that paranoid, but really every room in our house is open to the outdoors and the peeping eyes of roofers. Not that they're even that interested... Wow, am I still typing???
